I'm so excited about our latest pair of chairs that just arrived at the shop! They are a beautiful pair of Chippendale style chinoiserie chairs that date back to 1900.
I'm also in love with their "lacquered" appearance and beautiful jade green color.
Of course, seeing the chairs made me look up some other beautiful chinoiserie items on Pinterest!
Take a look!
Chinoiserie is not for everyone…in fact, I feel like it is the "grown up" thing I've come to love!
My husband's grandmother with impeccable taste had beautiful wall papers in her home that were very similar to this and I always admired them.
Can you imagine an armoir in all of this chinoiserie? It's beautiful!
These are all beautiful examples of Chinoiserie wallpaper and I'm even considering one for my powder bath.
We have several wonderful tole trays that are chinoiserie that you would just love if indeed chinoiserie is for you!
As well as beautiful Transferware plates and platters that depict the oriental or chinoiserie scenes
Like I said, chinoiserie is not for everyone and I certainly understand that!
But here are just a few more pieces of eye candy to temp those that are wavering!
And if your'e having trouble deciding whether you like it or not, you can always check out this blog called Chinoiserie bloodspot to help you out!
I'm just really excited about our new chairs!
In fact, after driving for 6 hours yesterday I just couldn't resist running down to the shop and putting them in our window for all to see! I sure hope Pattie and Ellen like them as much as I do! Oh well….we shall see!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I just love chinoiserie. Beautiful chairs, Carolyn! I'm sure they'll fly out the door.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carla!
DeleteHi Carolyn - Exquisite and very sculptural chairs! They are in such fine condition, too. I love Chinoiserie. When I was at Winterthur, they had lots of Chinoiserie furniture. Your chairs would look beautiful in an antiques filled home, or in a transitional room mixed with contemporary furnishings. Also, your transferware pieces are beautiful. They are getting harder to find in such good condition. Cheers, Loi
ReplyDeleteThanks, Loi! I was thinking the same thing…great in a traditional home or one with a twist!
DeleteEvery image in this post is gorgeous, but especially your news chairs! They are perfect

DeleteThey would have gone home with me, Carolyn! Just gorgeous. I too have fallen in love with chinoiserie lately.

DeleteI am such a fan of chinoiserie Carolyn... My dream is to have a bedroom with Chinese wallpaper... xv
ReplyDeleteVicki….I understand! I look at my oldest child's bedroom and dream of bringing home our antique twin beds from Zurich and also dressing up the room with a gorgeous Chinese paper to go along with the bamboo and chinoiserie mirror that's already in there!
DeleteLove, love your chairs! I adore chinoiserie and would love to add a little to my home.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have it in small amounts but I still love it!
DeleteOh so pretty! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteHello there Carolyn dear! Oh anything with aqua or green is my favorite! Those chairs are divine and I bet you are so enjoying them. Thank you so much for visiting today and please come back next week for our landing in Paris!!! Anita
