Representing a very old tradition, similar to our great grandmothers who quilted, these women wove these heirlooms for the dowry of the young girls in their families that were engaged to be married.
Sounds so very romantic! Some of the pillows we have in at the moment were actually taken from ancient draperies or tablecloths, woven with care and love to be given at the marriage of their children.
Wouldn't you love to have an heirloom like this?
Then we begin to discover the incredible tapestries from Europe, woven with intricate detail, the ones that we carry back with us in our suitcases from buying trips that we don't dare part with!!
And thank heavens for Ralph Lauren and his wonderful fabrics that allow us to feel as we've captured yet another find.
You cannot replace an original- but you can certainly try. And he did a great job!!!
Bt you can always attempt to blend the old with the new and make everyone happy!
Placed on an antique bench...these old and new pillows certainly make a statement!!
I am loving the rosettes on the pillows that just arrived at our shop yesterday...in fact, I may have to sneak them home...
I won't tell if you won't!! They would look absolutely perfect on my bed- do you think Jim would notice? Probably not!
Especially if I kept the lights dimmed like I did in this pic!!!! I'm LOVING it!!!!! the neutrals will always work!!!!! as much as a man hates alot of pillows....I think us girls love them even more!!!
I sure hope these pillow gave you just a little glimpse at how easy it is to accessorize and turn everything old into something new again!!! It's really not that hard! and we are always happy to help!!
lovingly,
carolyn
