Inspirations...Where Do Yours Come From?

Lately, we have been getting inspired by alot of different things as I'm sure most people have! It's easy to do when the weather is changing and with every new season comes new ideas....new ways to spruce up...new ways to entertain...

Not only have we had fun sprucing up the shop with wonderful fall items like burlap table runners, glorious cinderella pumpkins, pheasants, turkeys, etc....we've been bringing in new pieces of furniture! Well...they are "new" to the shop but they are anything but NEW! These incredible sheepbone chairs are the prettiest we've ever had in my humble opinion!!

 They have a double nailhead trim and the legs are more detailed than usual and I love the fabric! I also love that when the upholsterer got them "undone" he informed us that they were truly much older than the ones he usually sees!

That was exciting to me to know for a fact that these particular chairs date back to the mid 1800's! A rarity these days in the world of chairs!! Chairs that can actually be functional as well as beautiful! Chairs that even a large man can sit in and you won't be secretly praying that it doesn't crumble under his weight while he is eating!! ( trust me...I've held my breath many a time at a dinner party at my own home! )

And since we are talking about different ways to get inspired…I will let you in on a little secret that we 

 will be updating as it progresses. We are excited to be helping with the Birmingham Home and Garden's Inspiration Home that Tracery Interiors is designing! Needless to say...the Inspiration Home is certainly inspiring us to bring in wonderful pieces that will help to make the home as beautiful as possible! Can't wait for it to be finished and for everyone to get to see the beautiful work from Tracery that we have all come to know and love!

Falling in Love with the Season

We are so excited that fall is finally here!  Football, pumpkin spice lattes, and trips to the cabin are just some of the reasons most people love the fall, but here at Mulberry, its the decorations that have us all excited!

There's just something about the rich colors and textures that pulls us in every season! Turkeys, pheasants, burlap, acorns, and pumpkins... there are so many fun ways to decorate your home for the fall.  The hard part is picking what to do first!

Look at these great pheasants!  We can hardly keep them here.  They look great on a console table or as a part of your holiday table.

In our window, we have a large bunch of acorn ornaments, in an oversized dough bowl.  At night, the overflowing bowl just seams to glow under our new pendants! 

Mercury ware just screams party to me, and our new pumpkins will make a perfect addition to your collection.

Mixed in with other mercury ware pieces and a burlap runner, this makes a great Thanksgiving table for a beach house or even something different for the dining room at home.

Possibly my favorite new fall look is these brown mercury ware votives.  The rich color of the brown looks so warm and welcoming when the light flickers inside the glass.

And lets be honest, they have such a great contrast against the burlap runners!  Every fall issue on the magazine stands seems to have at least one table with a burlap runner, and we have them in several different colors and widths!

Who's Ready for Fall?

I know I am! I've been busy browsing some fall parties we hosted last year and it's making me long for cooler weather, fall colors because they make me happy and some pumpkins and mums to cheer up my withered looking yard after this summer's relentless heat!

Look at how easy these hanging votives are to use. No more hours of "arranging" flowers! Just hang them and you've got a stunning centerpiece!

One of my favorite fall flowers is mums...it just doesn't get much better for that vibrant splash of fall color!

When my children were young they would always be so excited when carpool dropped them off and I had just put out the pots of mums with the pumpkins. It is certainly easy for anyone to do and it gives that "Home Sweet Home" feel quickly to the out side of your house.

Of course, this table was done at the shop for selling purposes but it still gives the idea of how to begin your fall decorating schemes.

Now, for a dressier and more fancy feel, these delicious looking roses make the ultimate statement on any table or sideboard! In fact, they just might steal the show if you're not careful!  Even a "non floral" person can attempt these creations because the candelabra makes it quite simple.

 A little glitter of light with the votive candles is such a nice touch...especially for an evening get together!

All of these fall colored flowers and fruits easily transition from the fall tablescapes to the Christmas table and you don't have to throw anything out if you can keep it "freshened up" by spritzing with water and changing out one or two flowers if they start to look "sad". 

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to the fall colors, the cooler weather and of course entertaining with friends and family!
