Another Monday….Rolling Around!

Monday, August 6, 2012

Monday's! There's Always Another One Coming Around!

No matter what we've been doing over the weekend…Monday's  don't show much favoritism! They are always there…always waiting for us!
In some ways I guess it's reassuring, though!

As much fun as I've had with my family at the beach over the weekend, I'm honestly looking forward to seeing what awaits me! Pattie texted me this picture of the books that came in while I was away and yes, there is ONE copy of Rooms To Inspire by the Sea….all for me!
( it never hurts to get yourself a little happy when ordering for the shop…at least that's what I say!)

It was hard to leave this morning…but I know there is much to do at home!

There are so many other things that await my return…number one on my list is helping  my son pack up to head off to Auburn for college!
As well as helping my daughter and her husband pack up to move for good to New Orleans….hmmmm!!
Then there are the not so pressing and yet important issues...
Like decorating the shop for fall! We just received this copy of Cottage Journal right before I left showing our 'turkey' that they used in the photo shoot. I can't believe it's really that time of year again, but it is! There is always another one just around the corner it seems!

We will be putting out lots of fun decorations for use in your fall tablescapes. A lot of them mix quite well with our antique brown and white transferware as well as our creamware!

And then, before you know it I will be putting out more decorations at home….which is always hard to get excited about when you've had them out since the end of August at the shop!

And then changing everything up to get ready for Christmas!

Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
I know for certain that somewhere in between I will be longing for my quiet place at the beach to reflect on it all and wish that I had enjoyed it! I don't want to have any regrets! Because when all is said and done…life will still be here and still be moving right along…and once it settles down….

I might just have some time to enjoy this precious little angel!

And in the end, it really is about enjoying each of life's "pressing" issues, isn't it! Because once those things are dealt with you get to soak in all of life's blessing! Hope you've had a great start to your week and that you've enjoyed your Monday!

Fall Treats~

I love that my shop is often called upon to loan items for photo shoots…it gives us exposure and allows us to be a part of something bigger!

I love the calls we get from the readers of all of these publications…it brings us people from all walks of life and every corner of the Untied States and then some.
We share the common bond of loving and collecting beautiful things such as antique transferware!

Selfishly, I get to read the recipes in the magazines before a lot of you do because they send us early copies as a "Thank You" for letting them borrow our antique pieces. Therefore, when I see some that I think really look amazing I've decided to share them early with you!

(I love the way this tea pot photographed!)

The cake stand above has sold since this was shot for Tea Time Magazine.
I plan on finding more to add to the collections I carry at my shop…especially seeing how beautiful this *Salted Caramel Pound Cake looks on it!
*see recipe below

After reading this today at my shop it made me appreciate once again the reason I started my shop in the first place….

Collections!
The things that remind you of the past and give you something to share with those in your future! Your children and your grandchildren! Special friends and loved ones!
I named my personal cookbook that I made for my family, "Collections".
This is exactly the reason why I did!
Enjoy the magazine when it arrives near you...
~And definitely try out some of these amazing recipes~

Finally, It's Pumpkin Time!

Here are some of my favorite images of pumpkins and fall in general  from the new issue by Cottage Journal called 'Holiday Home'. If you can find it you really should get this issue!

They borrowed this fabulous french bowl from my shop and just look how pretty it is with all of their pumpkins, gourds and vegetables!

They have a wonderful staff and very talented stylists!
It's always fun to see what they put together at Hoffman Media.
In fact, they were actually at my own home this past Wednesday and I can't wait to see the pictures!

Even these simple lanterns look so good mixed in with pumpkins and mums.

Fall has always been one of my most favorite times of the year to decorate for. Finally, we've had a week of great weather and it's beginning to even feel like fall!

From different shades of orange…

to the greens and yellows of gourds it really is simple to pull together a great looking fall arrangement!

Look how pretty the berries look mixed in with it as well!

I am so excited that these handblown pumpkins were shown as well because they are arriving at my shop next week! Just in time for our big art show that's coming up!

Who doesn't love the white pumpkins? We usually have the real ones in the shop but we haven't gotten any yet….it really has been too hot to think about fall until this week!

Seriously, this is breathtaking and we actually have those candlesticks in right now!
I wonder if they borrowed these as well? I can't remember!

Downtown we have a wonderful place that is owned by Charlie Thigpen and it's always a treat for me to stop by and take a look. I like to go in it when we are there for the farmer's market that is put on every Saturday until mid December, I think.

It's always a treat to see his innovative ideas as well ooh and ahh over his incredible gardening ability!

He has a regular column in Southern Living magazine that is always interesting and sometimes downright entertaining!

I would say he was born with a green thumb!

As well as a lot of imagination! Hope you enjoyed a little Fall flare and pumpkins galore! I can't wait to share the Christmas decorating ideas that are also in this issue!
To see more of Charlie's work you can see his website HERE.

Have a wonderful weekend!
